I checked out and found somewhere else to stay because I felt disgusted and worried about my safety as a woman travelling alone. The flat was conveniently placed for visiting my son at university, and I would have stayed several times if this hadn't happened. The flat itself was okay, though the decor was odd, a spare mattress was leaning in the hall, and the place looked a bit tired. I was there too briefly to use the facilities. I booked through Booking.com. The small print mentioned a refundable £100 damage deposit, which was requested before I could get the check-in details and still hasn't been refunded. I was told there was a heater and to keep it on low because it would be noisy. When I arrived, it was clear the main heating wasn't working. The heater was so loud on high that sleep would have been impossible, and the room was freezing. It didn't seem enough to keep me warm on a cold January night. I contacted the property through Booking.com messaging. A very angry man told me to message only in emergencies and to leave the heater on while I was out. He wouldn't accept that this was a fire risk. He called me a serial complainer, gave no apology, and said I'd be fine with a duvet. He became aggressive and offered no solution. Completely out of order.

The place was old, tired, and stained, with strange smells coming from other flats along the hall and drunken noise through the night. There were rats by the bins too. The photos clearly seemed to have been taken when everything was new. I wish I'd paid a bit more for a Travelodge. Be warned. We booked four nights, but the shower was mouldy, unusable, and in an unacceptable, unsafe state. The tray shifted dangerously underfoot, so it wasn't possible to shower safely. We contacted the host and Booking.com immediately. At first Patrick sounded understanding and supportive. But after he realised we'd also contacted Booking.com, he became hostile and unprofessional, even accusing me of fraud for asking for help through the proper channels. That was upsetting and completely inappropriate, especially since we'd agreed I'd pay for one night and his Booking.com fees.

The construction is poor, and you can hear your neighbours breathing. It's very hot in summer and very cold in winter. I wouldn't recommend renting here or using it for anything else.
