The Hillsborough - Inn

A great independent pub, brewing its own beer on site at Wood Street Brewery and offering a well-chosen selection of guest ales. The pub grub is decent and very reasonably priced. There's a really nice terrace at the back for when the weather's fine.

The breakfast was good, and so were the beers. Since this used to be the Wood Street Brewery, the beer didn't have far to travel! We had a comfortable triple room, nothing luxurious, and the trams starting early made sure we didn't sleep through the day. There's a nice restaurant area at the back with views over the valley.

We came for the football at the weekend, and although we didn't check in until six, one of the bar staff got us sorted quickly. The room was clean and spacious, with decent comfy beds. I had fish and chips, some of the best I've had. Breakfast was enjoyable too, and the coffee was just what I needed after a good night out. You can take a tram to West Street for a night out. We're already thinking of coming back for the match next year. Keep up the good work.

Clean venue with plenty of tables and space, and it looks like it's been redecorated. Good range of beers, real ales and real cider on tap. It's handy for tram stops on the blue and yellow routes, and there are local buses too.
