The refurbishment has made the pub feel fresh and cosy while keeping its proper pub atmosphere. The new landlady is so welcoming and friendly, and you can tell care goes into the service and kitchen. Our food was delicious, with generous portions and great value. It’s quickly becoming one of my favourite spots again. Worth a visit if you haven’t been since the changes.

We went in for an early dinner and were glad we did. The chicken curry was to die for, the decor was tasteful, and the service was excellent. We’ll definitely be back.

It’s one of the best places in Shefford. The new owners have really made a difference: the toilets are spotless, and the place is clean, nicely decorated, with polite staff. I had sausages and mash with onion gravy for £3.95, amazing. The comments are all from when it had the last owners.

The owner is an absolute disgrace. This is the worst establishment I’ve ever had the dishonour of being in. If you aren’t a regular, they make sure you know it and treat you differently. They even listen in on conversations to catch swearing. I don’t mean shouting and getting kicked out, which would be reasonable. I mean talking quietly at a normal person-to-person level and still getting kicked out. Absolutely horrendous. Avoid at all costs, don’t even look at the place.

A friend called just a few minutes before 8 to ask if there were quiz tables free, and was told there were plenty. My friend and I had gone the night before for the quiz, but when we arrived at an empty pub, staff said it was fully booked. They didn’t even move to pour the drinks we’d ordered. I asked if we could stand at the bar and play, but they said no, they were at capacity. The whole thing felt off, so we left. We won’t bother going back.
