The garden at Brownhill House is open to the public through the National Garden Scheme, and it's full of different flowers and vegetables. Part of it climbs a 45-degree slope in planted layers, with a clear amount of careful, artistic work behind it. The cottage sits beside the River Perry in Shropshire, and the garden is one of its real delights. Inside, the layout makes the cottage feel tidy, clean, cosy, warm and homely. There are plenty of books in the sitting room and bedroom for guests to browse. My single room was spacious and spotless, and the bed was extremely comfortable, just what I needed after several hours of driving. Yoland and Roger were friendly and made me feel at ease. Yoland told me about local community activities and their involvement. They're both bibliophiles and good writers, producing articles and booklets about local landscapes and cultural history. They also contribute to the community through gardening presentations and collectible classic car shows. Breakfast was a delicious English meal, planned and prepared by Yoland, with plenty of choice. The homemade damson plum juice was refreshing and tasty. Before I left after breakfast, she kindly packed me raspberry muffins she'd baked and an apple from their garden. Both were absolutely delicious. Thanks 🙏. I've stayed at many B&Bs, and this is one of the best. I'd highly recommend it for countryside quiet, friendly company and a relaxing stay. Yoland mentioned that 30 families along the road share the postcode, so it's best to look at a picture of the house before driving there 😀👍. Wei-Jun Bournemouth

The gardens were impressive, scenic and peaceful, and breakfast felt very nice and homely. I enjoyed chatting with the lovely staff about their lives. Wish we could have stayed longer.

A special place in a beautiful natural setting, with gardens unlike any others I've seen. The owners are wonderful and go above and beyond. Highly recommended.

The garden is wonderful, almost hard to believe until you've seen it, and Yolande sent us off with muffins every day. Breakfast had fantastic choices, including pancakes to die for. We never needed lunch! I stayed here with friends for three nights a couple of weeks ago, and everything was faultless. My single room was spacious and came with its own spotless bathroom. Yolande and Roger are great fun, quirky and interesting. I'll be back as soon as I can. Maureen Edwards, Kent

I needed a room for one night while visiting a friend, and had such a lovely stay in the single room at Brownhill. It was warm, welcoming and a really good size. The en suite was incredible, with a nice view and a lovely big bath. The bed was comfy, with an extra blanket available, and breakfast was included and great. Friendly hosts. I'll be back!
