Netley Hall - Jasmine

On our third visit to Netley Hall in Shrewsbury, we ended up having a very disappointing stay because of the staff and the night manager. The manager was rude and made inappropriate comments, and the staff were very rude too. There wasn't bottled water in the room. When I asked, a staff member brought a jug with dirt in the water. I asked if they could add a slice of lemon, but was told the restaurant didn't have any. We paid for two rooms, including Room 10 on the third floor, where the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. The place itself is nice, which made the experience all the more disappointing.

It's a nice location, which makes this a shame. I booked a night's stay in a cottage and paid, but then the booking was cancelled because they said they were fully booked. I could still see multiple cottages available through several outlets for the same dates, though at higher prices. I'm waiting for a refund or any further communication. Reading the reviews, maybe it was a lucky escape, as people describe dirty rooms in poor condition, but I can't speak from first-hand experience.

A lovely estate with well-equipped holiday cottages, and a peaceful place to recharge. Be careful with the directions: use the equestrian centre entrance, not the main entrance your sat nav might send you to.

The cottages need extensive updating, and I couldn't recommend them. They felt very bare, almost like a campground. In the large bathroom there was nowhere to put anything, and the tub had a hose. The toilet wouldn't flush properly, the jetted tub looked poor (other guests said it wasn't working), and there were flooring problems and old furniture. The electric couch was broken, the bedroom heater didn't work properly, and there were no extra blankets. One towel was dirty, and the kitchen light didn't come on every time. The mattress was very worn and stained. I had to sleep on the comforter and bed runner to avoid feeling the springs sticking up.
