Hunters Moon Hotel

During Sidmouth folk festival week, we stopped in the garden for a drink at the temporary garden bar. It was a lovely, relaxing spot and reasonably priced. The hotel grounds are stunning. We didn’t stay overnight because it was fully booked, so I can’t comment on the rooms or food. They look nice, though.

It’s a lovely old building, and the rooms were to a very high standard. The staff were lovely and the service was first class. Can’t wait to go back.

There’s no lift, but it is a Georgian hotel set in wonderful grounds. For a two star place, this must be the best I’ve stayed in. Everything else was superb. We had ground floor room 33, and our friends were in room 32, which opened onto a courtyard with a table and chairs. Dinner was excellent and plentiful, with a different menu each day. After a good breakfast, I didn’t need lunch. There was juice, cereal, fruit and yoghurt, plus a full English you could choose yourself with toast. The attentive, cheerful staff, chef and kitchen team all provided spot on service. Thank you.

Everything was unusually clean, and the decor looked new. The beds were super comfy, the staff friendly, and breakfast was good.
