We stopped in for the first time on our last night nearby. The pub was cosy and relaxing, and the service was pretty good. The bar staff member with long hair and a beard, Adam ?, was professional and personable. The food was lovely and cooked well. My sirloin steak cost £36, which is towards the pricey end for food, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. We'd certainly come back when we're in the area.

We had the fish special, a whole bream in creamy caper sauce with French fries, and it was exquisite. It may be my favourite dish I've ever had while eating out. Our only regret is not dining at the Tower Inn sooner. Dom is clearly a real asset to the kitchen. The pub itself is tucked into the lovely village of Slapton, with the ruins of a Collegiate Chantry tower built in the 1300s behind it. Inside, it's traditional and very cosy, with lit candles on every table in the evening and music that suited the setting. We booked a small, cosy room with an en-suite and kitchenette, and it was exactly what we needed. It looked out over the village church. The kitchenette had a coffee machine, microwave, fridge, bowls, plates, and utensils. Pets were allowed, so our dog could come along too. The price was brilliant compared with other places nearby, and we'd happily stay again. The people made the visit special. Dom, the resident chef, gave us a warm welcome, and Thea, the landlady, was just as welcoming and approachable. Adam behind the bar was friendly, knew his stuff, and was lovely to chat with. His service was impeccable and he noticed every detail. Every bar needs an Adam! We didn't get to try his pub quizzes, but they sound second to none. The blonde woman who served us was wonderful too. I didn't catch her name, but when a fly got into my glass of wine from our own bottle, she happily replaced the glass. We couldn't be happier that we stayed at the Tower Inn. It's popular with locals and full of friendly faces, which we can see why. The food we tried was wonderful, and the room suited us perfectly.

A quaint pub for the area, with an average food menu and a good selection of beers and wines. I'm all for a bohemian feel, but the dirty seating and shabby decor take the shine off the premium food. The decor could use an upgrade. I wouldn't return.

I've been to slapton a few times over the years, but this was our first Sunday lunch at the Tower Inn. The approach gave an old-school first impression, then the smell of roast hit us. A French chef was cooking different meats over charcoal in a small BBQ-style area. We'd booked for two and brought our two spaniels. The lamb was sold out, damn, so I ordered the slow-cooked pork shoulder instead. Absolutely amazing: the softest pork, served with bone gravy, swede, cabbage, peas and garlic, cauliflower cheese, extra gravy, and of course roast potatoes. A lovely meal. The service was fantastic. Adam was a gent, dressed the part, and brought a great persona and sense of humour to a fun visit. The chef is French and knows his stuff. A sublime roast for £24.00, not too bad. Enjoy, guys, it's worth it, I can assure you.
