We arrived at our accommodation fairly late and needed to feed the children by around 7 pm, so we tried this nearby pub. That was a bad call. The adults had steak and ale pie, while the children had fish and chips and scampi and chips. The pies had no taste, the vegetables were overcooked, and the cauliflower was distinctly grey. Even the chips were nothing special. The 18-month-old ate the scampi, but he does have a good appetite. My daughter asked for lime and soda water, but it came with lemonade and was too sweet to drink. Orange juice for my granddaughter turned out to be squash, and she kept saying “YUK!” The IPA was just about drinkable. My wife wanted a Becks, but they only had non-alcoholic. There were so few diners even on a bank holiday Saturday that we started to see why. We bought half a dozen eggs for breakfast, then noticed the next morning they were a week past their sell by date. We won’t return and would strongly advise others to give it a miss.

The room was warm and the bed lovely and soft. The bathroom was a bit small, but fine for the night we were there. Signals are an issue in the area, though that’s not the Plume’s fault.

We ate here twice during our stay and enjoyed both meals. It’s a lovely pub. The village shop is very small and has only basic food, but if you ask for something, I’m sure he’d try to get it for you.

They’ve redecorated this lovely pub recently, and it has a nice range of drinks. I’d definitely consider coming back for a meal.

A great local pub with good food and an atmosphere that feels just right for a village place. The staff and management are great too.
