Enchanted Retreats at West Ford Devon

March 2024. My family and I had such a relaxing stay with the dogs at Groom Cottage on this warmly welcoming estate. Being able to head straight from the cottage out for walks was a wonderful bonus, as we didn’t have to drive anywhere for them. Nothing was lacking. Thank you to Nick and Juliette for sharing this beautiful accommodation with us for my niece’s 21st birthday, Sue.

A peaceful cottage with lovely decor, tucked away for a proper retreat. The pool, great playground and fairy trail were an extra treat. There are nice walks for dogs too, provided you don’t mind them eating sheep poo!

The East Wing is private, comfortable and a great place to stay, with the main farmhouse separated by a couple of locked doors. We spent two nights there and loved its quirky Grade II listed character and fantastic Exmoor setting. Upstairs are two amazing bedrooms, one with a four poster and the other very large with a super king. There’s a nice kitchen with an Aga, a big dining table and everything you’ll need, plus a comfy living area with a TV. The grounds are lovely for walks, and South Molton is a nice nearby village where we visited the market. Juliet and Nick were both welcoming and helpful. We’ll definitely recommend it.

The accommodation was beautiful and well maintained, with fresh flowers, comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and a welcome hamper stocked with everything we needed. We had a magical week here with our two young children, aged 4 and 6. The grounds are huge and wild, with an indoor tropical pool, trampolines, a fairy wood and a lake visited by kingfishers, flycatchers, swallows and dragonflies.
