Clifton Guest House

The people running this lovely hotel were wonderful. When I got ill and needed to stay a bit later, they were flexible while my partner travelled to collect me. My room was lovely, with a comfortable bed and pillows, a nice hot shower and a lovely coffee from the cafe. There are loads of great dinner options right across the road, and the beach is a short walk away.

I spent two weeks here while taking a training course at the local college. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and most have worked at the hotel for years. My room was nice, the bed was made daily, and the breakfast was awesome. Free WiFi and a TV in the bedrooms, too. There are loads of restaurants and places to eat on the next street. The college is about a 30 minute walk away, and the town centre is just 10 minutes down the road. A recommended hotel, and I’ll use it again. 10 out of 10.

The fried bread took me straight back to my grandmother's, and the rest of breakfast was fantastic too. A friend recommended this place, so I stopped by this morning. Really dog friendly, lovely staff, 10/10 👍

I was in Tyneside for work, doing night shifts, and stayed in room 12, the attic room facing Ocean Road. The building is beautifully decorated, right down to the furniture, and the staff were friendly, polite and gave good service, though I barely needed to speak with them. The walls let through everything, though. I could hear people talking in the street, dogs barking, cars and electric scooters, plus the next guest snoring and farting. Conversations from staff in the next room and corridor came through so clearly it was like standing beside them while they hoovered. The do not disturb sign only keeps the housekeeper from knocking. Maybe the downstairs rooms or the ones facing Henry Nelson St are different, but be wary of an attic room if you want some peace after 10am.
