Town or Country-Canute Studio

I arrived late at night to find the apartment hadn't been cleaned at all. They told me to collect keys for another apartment, which I checked, but that place was in a state too. With no rooms left, they said there was nothing they could do and told me to contact customer service for a refund. I was stranded in Southampton late at night as a young woman and had to spend hundreds of pounds on last-minute accommodation elsewhere. Since June, I've been contacting Town or Country about this. I tried not to leave a bad review because I understand it was a mistake. They apologised profusely and promised to refund both the stay and my extra expenses. For months I got different excuses: booking.com would refund me, booking.com hadn't paid them, the cleaners had gone home sick, or they needed my bank details to pay me directly within a certain number of days. This last month they stopped replying. I'm devastated by the whole experience. They're thieves and liars. Do not book here. I wish I could give zero stars.

With a different mattress, this could easily be a five-star stay. The room itself is perfect, with good facilities, a nice bathroom, and a great location. But the bed was impossible to sleep on. It was small for a double, and the mattress was so soft I could feel the springs.

Getting the keys and into the building was quick and easy. The modern studio was clean and sleek, small but roomy enough for a couple, with a lovely bathroom and little kitchen. It's close to lots of restaurants and the track, and not far from the city centre. Would recommend.

The studio was really clean and comfortable for our three-night stay. It's near the cruise terminals and an easy walk to the city centre. There's a Tesco Express across the road, handy for a quick bite, and it has the best pastries, fresh every day.
