Southend Central Hotel

For the price, this isn't worth it. There's no shampoo or body wash, just one small bar of soap per person, and there wasn't enough toilet paper, so we had to buy more. The beds aren't made. It feels like renting a room with an ensuite in someone's house, not staying at a hotel.

We stayed for three days and our room was never cleaned. We ran out of toilet paper, and there was no shampoo or body wash. The reception was unmanned the whole time, and they don't serve any food at all. This is a house on a residential street that rents out rooms while presenting itself as a hotel. We were misled, and it's too late for us, but you can save yourselves. Don't book this misleading accommodation.

We spent most of our trip enjoying the activities in Southend on sea, and it was lovely to come back to a comfortable bed in a quiet hotel and sleep. The staff member was polite and friendly from the moment we arrived, and made my daughter's birthday extra special. He also upgraded the three-person rooms I'd booked to two family rooms at no charge. The rooms were lovely and spacious, with a TV. I'd definitely recommend staying here, and will come back on a future trip.

We stayed on 18th and 19th May 2018, and wish we'd had more time. The owner was helpful, and the hotel and its furnishings were all new and spotlessly clean. Since we were among his first clients, we were upgraded to a spacious family room with a double bed and two singles. The ensuite shower room felt like a little luxury, and the beds, duvets and pillows were so comfortable. Prices are excellent, and it's close to the seafront and all amenities.
