We usually come around Christmas and stay in a family room. Maria is always welcoming and friendly, ready to help, and she makes a real fuss of our little boy. It’s great value for the price. The bunk bed mattresses could use replacing, though my little one slept fine.

I paid under £30 for the night, and for that price I was very happy. It’s handy for the shops and Southport town centre, and breakfast at £5 was reasonable. They also have an evening menu. The staff were wonderful, and everything smelled clean and fresh. My room had a comfortable bed, a bath and shower, soft towels, tea and coffee, plus a fridge with snacks and drinks at an extra cost. There was a private patio with French doors opening onto the gardens. The place could do with updating, but what you pay should reflect that. I’d happily stay again.

The reception and building interior are beautifully decorated and have a real old-fashioned feel, almost like stepping back in time to when people might have been less fussy. The room had plenty of light and double glazing. But the window didn’t shut properly, so wind came into the room and I could feel it even lying in bed. The central heating often didn’t work. They provided a decent electric heater, and using it on the highest setting with the central heating warmed the room somewhat. It was comfortable when it wasn’t windy outside, but got cold when it was. Quite a surreal experience.

Breakfast cost £5 and was well worth it: cereal, juice, yoghurt, a full English cooked well, bread and toast with preserves, tea or coffee, plus pain au chocolat and fruit. Magnificent. Thank you, Maria. I was made to feel welcome and looked after from arrival through breakfast by Maria at reception. The location was great and suited what I needed for my one-night stay. I’d certainly come back.

The location was spot on, about a ten-minute walk into town, and we slept well in a comfy bed. We had a big room with a fridge, kettle, hair dryer, bath and TV, and the breakfast was great too. We arrived for one night over the bank holiday weekend and were greeted by a very friendly woman at reception. Thanks to all the staff for being so hospitable. We’ll be back soon.
