We slept really well, the bed was very comfortable, and the staff were extremely friendly. The manager also handled a table of Karens calmly while we were enjoying a lovely meal in the restaurant. I wouldn't have been nearly as patient. The bar has little cubby holes and alcoves where you can sit and take in the old architecture. This is a cozy, historic place with a lot of character. It's not a modern, characterless hotel like a Premier Inn. It's an old and quirky building, with low oak beamed ceilings, uneven floors and a bit of an adventure getting to your room. Our floor sloped. That's part of its charm, and it felt special to stay here. Highly recommended.

The full English breakfast was lovely, and there was cereal, toast, yoghurt and fruit juice as well. We had the four poster room, and the bed was so comfortable. It's an old, quirky hotel with uneven floors, but we loved it and would definitely come back. Thankyou 👍

We paid for a superior room and weren't disappointed. If you're after a proper old fashioned Inn with a real bar, a good breakfast and a great location, give this place a go. If you expect Premier Inn pristine, look elsewhere.

There wasn't anyone to show us where to sit at breakfast or what to help ourselves to, though the food itself was okay. The welcome wasn't very warm, and the barman wasn't very friendly either. Our room was run down, with a hole in the window frame, old bedroom furniture that wasn't charmingly old, and a radiator that didn't work, so we had a plug-in heater instead. It smelled of cigarette smoke when we walked in. Maybe it came from customers smoking outside, but it wasn't pleasant. When we checked out, they just took the key and didn't ask how the stay had been. The place needs investment, and the staff need customer service training.

The room was basic, but very clean. It's a lovely quaint hotel, with a lovely breakfast and excellent service. I'll definitely visit again.
