The dinner wasn't really worth the price for us. I think the menu changes often, so whether you'll like what's offered probably depends on the day. Breakfast was much better, fresh and cooked to order, with attentive staff making sure we were looked after. We stayed two nights at The Seacote Hotel on a fantastic wowcher offer, and for what we paid the service, room and location were top tier. The staff we met were incredibly friendly, kind and helpful, and our dog enjoyed the stay too. The room was spotless, with a lovely shower temperature and great water pressure, just what we needed after a full day hiking. The decor in the room and building is quite old fashioned, so keep that in mind if looks matter to you. St Bees in Cumbria is peaceful and quaint, and easy to reach by car. We liked being somewhere quiet and coastal, with the wider Lakes within reach, which is where we headed. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the hotel.

We were visiting St Bees for the day rather than staying, but we'd definitely consider an overnight visit in future. We stopped for lunch in February, when it was quiet out of season. The place felt cosy, looked recently refurbished and was very clean. Staff were helpful, and our meal was delicious and nicely cooked, especially the chips.

The views from our room were lovely, and all the staff serving dinner were nice. We ate at the hotel each night and enjoyed the food. One person behind the bar was a bit frosty, unlike the rest of the team. We've stayed before and liked it, but this room was smaller than the one we had previously. There were plenty of drawers for T-shirts and underwear, but no wardrobe and just four hangers for two people, which wasn't enough. The room and bathroom were spotless. The wall beside the window was in poor shape, with plaster coming off, and it really should have been fixed before the room was let. At reception, a nice lady gave us a dog blanket and bowls when we checked in with our dog, plus a small pack with poo bags and dog biscuits. The lift was broken, which was a nuisance with my wife's recent knee surgery and all those stairs. When I mentioned it, the receptionist offered to move us to a lower floor the next day, but we stayed in the room we'd been given. We'll come back, hopefully to a better room.

The views and location are fantastic, and I'd happily return on my next trip to the UK. We ate in the bar both evenings and had breakfast each morning, and couldn't fault the food or service. This was my second visit. Early on the second morning, a noisy radiator woke me, so I asked at reception if we could change rooms. The lady sorted it straight away, and we were in another room within about 15 minutes. It was quiet the following morning. To me, a place shows its quality in how it handles a problem, and they handled this really well. Highly recommended.

The staff were super friendly, and the food was delicious. We had a lovely long weekend at the hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious.
