The Countryman

The small size of the hotel made it very quiet, and there's a lovely garden where you can relax. We stayed for a long weekend a few weeks ago and had a great time. The new owners are friendly and helpful. Our room, number 6, was a good size for three, newly furnished and decorated very nicely. It was clean, the beds were good, and we slept like logs. We'll definitely come back!

We had a drink and a chat with the lovely owners in the evening, and they made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice. Room 7 was beautifully decorated, and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. We stayed at the Countryman for a long weekend in October, and our two young children had a brilliant time too. They were especially impressed by the cats and the fire changing colour, and say they want to come back. Thanks so much, we'd definitely recommend it!

We had a very clean room with everything we needed, and breakfast is a must. It was all freshly and properly cooked. Jackie and David were kind, lovely and welcoming, and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. They also have leaflets with things to do and places to visit around Cornwall. Looking forward to our next visit.

I hadn't stayed overnight, so I can't comment on the rooms, but we came for Sunday lunch and it was a wow. The roast pork starter and chocolate fudge cake were high quality and well presented. The cake came with thick clotted cream and strawberries in a chocolate sauce. It's a clean, modern, cosy place, with a nice lounge where we sat on the big sofa by the fireplace after lunch. Parking was easy, the hosts were great and made us feel very welcome. Prices were reasonable too. I've driven past so many times thinking I'd visit one day, and now wish I'd come sooner. I'll be back soon.
