Tower House 1066

There was no hot water at all, and the bed and pillows need replacing. We could feel the springs digging into us. The room was dirty too, with food scraps and dead bugs on the floor. We stayed one night and there were no meals or breakfast, despite the ad saying they provide them. Wouldn’t recommend.

This is a good-value B&B with friendly staff and great service. The breakfast was nice, good value and made with good produce. The room was comfortable, though the pillows need replacing. It’s a lovely B&B, but not a five-star hotel, and the finer cleaning details need attention. They should also make sure everything works and is dust-free, as there was a missing light bulb. The website needs updating because some details and photos are out of date and misleading. Breakfast is listed at £8.50, but it actually costs £11.

At 4am, staff came into my room without saying anything, and I only realised they were there when I woke up and confronted them. They woke my wife and child, and we argued back and forth. I still don’t know why they entered. It was deeply creepy. They later blamed me for not locking the door and never apologised or refunded me. My family and I stayed awake all night worrying about this invasion of privacy. An unlocked door does not give staff permission to come into my room at 4am. This is unacceptable.

The bed was made every morning, which was great, but the stay wasn’t very good overall. Our family visited in the last week of August, and our room was on the top floor. Going up and down each day with a baby was really difficult. Several things didn’t work or barely worked, and we ended up spending our most relaxing time out and about. It wasn’t cheap either. I wouldn’t go back or recommend it.
