I wouldn’t stay here again. The place has changed hands, so the older reviews don’t reflect what it’s like now. It’s very dated and run down, and a lot could be improved on a small budget. The grounds are covered in rubbish, including bags that would take minutes to throw away, and the decking round the back is rotten. Inside, the carpet was filthy, stained and musty, with an awful smell. There was mould on the windows and curtains, and the bathroom floor was sharp under bare feet. The shower barely dribbled, had just one setting, and was so low that anyone over 5 foot 7 would need to crouch. We were only given soap, so bring shampoo if you want to get properly clean. There was one cup for us to share and no milk for tea or coffee. They apparently can’t be bothered to staff the hotel before the pub opens, so check-in is at 4:30pm. If you need anything in the morning, you’re out of luck until evening, even when it’s a simple mistake they could put right. Staff were friendly, but seemed as if they’d never checked anyone in before. The whole thing felt bizarre, almost like a fake hotel. We had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come back with the keys because check-in was at the pub. If they’d let us check in at reception, we wouldn’t have been left standing around making dull conversation. The hotel is in the flight path, so expect planes overhead before 7am. After such a terrible night’s sleep, we couldn’t enjoy the days as much. The stay has clouded my impression of Guernsey, and I feel I wasted time I can never get back. If I’d known what the hotel was like, I’d have stayed in England and worked, which would have been more enjoyable. Save yourself the hassle and camp, or better yet, go to Jersey.

The room was clean and the bed really comfortable, but the hotel badly needs renovating. It would also help if the owners thought a bit more about the room layout, so you can get to the mirrors and sockets. The staff and food were amazing, with good local produce freshly cooked to order.

Mr Law has kept over £3,500 for a stay that was originally meant to be in May 2020. Because Covid meant we couldn’t travel, he moved the booking to 2021, then moved it again to 2022. Mr Law later cancelled without explaining why, and still hasn’t refunded us. This is disgraceful. Don’t stay here.

I booked in February 2020 for a stay planned for May that year. I still haven’t been reimbursed, even after sending many emails explaining that Covid made it impossible to travel abroad. The hotel doesn’t answer customers, and when it does, it gives a string of false excuses to avoid paying a refund that is clearly due.
