The staff were friendly and helpful, but the rooms feel very dated for what they cost. Breakfast needs booking ahead, and that wasn't made clear either during booking or in the hotel instructions. My room faced the care home, and the thin curtains let light in all night. Blackout curtains would help.

The reception young man was very helpful, and the room was clean with a comfy bed. There was good wardrobe space, a decent bathroom with toiletries, and tea and coffee facilities. The old part of the building is fabulous, while the modern annex feels like a motel. It's a couple of miles from the railway station and handy for the Lamex stadium.

I slept very well, comfortably and quietly, and would choose to stay here again over the town's more modern options. It's an historic building, so it has its own challenges, and the newer rooms are in an addition at the back. It won't be a sleek, spotless chain hotel. I booked direct for the best value and because the location suited me. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The shared area on the hotel side was a bit tired, but my room was clean and tidy with everything I needed. Linen and towels were spotless, and the shower was excellent. I'd visited the pub a few times before, though this was my first stay.

The breakfast was lovely, nicely cooked with good quality ingredients, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was spacious, pleasant, and clean, and the place has an old-world charm. We had a very pleasant stay and would definitely return if we needed to be in the area again.
