The location was the one real plus for us. The rooms were clean, but ours was on the third floor and there's no lift, so keep that in mind. The pub next door was handy, though people stayed outside laughing and shouting until 1 a.m., which made sleeping difficult. There were no curtains, just roller blinds, so the summer sunrise came in around 4 a.m. The mattress was flat, saggy, and much too soft, despite the claim about a state of the art one. Wi-Fi didn't work up on the third floor. We also had no maid service on the second day, so we were left without coffee or fresh towels. And although it's called a bed and breakfast, breakfast isn't provided, just a discount at a local cafe.

The parking information on AAdvantage Hotels said it was free and nearby, but that wasn't true. We paid to park so we could ask at the property, and no one answered the door. There's nowhere to park in front of the bed and breakfast, and driving up the road means you have to reverse all the way back out. The property wouldn't refund us after we raised the incorrect information. Update after Castle Walk B&B replied: Castle Walk Bed & Breakfast never sent us any message. I checked my spam folder too. The only note came from the booking agency, with a confirmation number, booking reference, and address. There was no entry code, so naturally we couldn't get in.

Room 11 is a little backpacker-style double, and it really is a squeeze for two. The price seemed fair for its size, though, and we enjoyed staying there. The bed was comfortable, the small floor heater was useful, and there was a sweet view into the garden. A private, large and clean washroom is on the same floor, and you get its key. It's about a 15-minute walk to Stirling Castle, and our host was quick to answer any questions.

Jackie was a big help with my luggage up to the second floor, especially as I'm 83. She also found me a great place for dinner and parked my car in a handicapped space across the street, which I couldn't have managed myself. My room was clean and had a fine view, and I enjoyed my stay at Castle Walk.

The location is excellent, but the beds are tiny and the secondhand linens were very old. My wife got the bed and I ended up sleeping on the floor. This place could be great if they replaced the beds and linens. The check-in instructions could also be clearer.
