Colessio

The shower was mega, and both the room and bathroom were very spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I'd definitely stay again. Parking on the premises costs extra, which feels like a downside for a large, nice hotel at these prices, though an outside agency runs the car park. There's a free car park less than 100 metres away from 5:30 p.m. until 8 a.m.

The staff were friendly, efficient, and clearly motivated, and we slept very comfortably in a room we were happy with. Compared with our earlier visits, it's clear that money is being put into the hotel, with bedroom upgrades and ongoing interior redecoration. The parking charge is now £10 for 24 hours, down from £15, which is welcome and fair for such a prime location. We were also pleased to see the hot buffet replaced by table-served full Scottish breakfast with a continental buffet. Direct reservations get the upgraded menu free. It's lovely to see this hotel being restored to a high standard, and we'll be back.

Really warm hotel, clean, and the staff were lovely. Our room had just been painted and the smell was pretty strong, but opening the window sorted it out. We'd stay again. Breakfast was lovely too, though a coffee machine would've been nice.

The rooms were fine, and the night staff member was nice and accommodating. The breakfast server did an amazing job and was very helpful with my vegetarian needs. One thing went wrong: the complimentary water in the fridge had already been used when we arrived. Reception didn't pick up when I called. After breakfast the next morning, I asked for replacement bottles and suggested housekeeping may have missed them. The receptionist said they check every room after cleaning, which made it sound as if I was lying. She did give me fresh water and said I didn't need to pay, but the way it was handled made me feel like a cheat over something so small. I still gave five stars, since one staff member shouldn't be responsible for a lower rating.
