Hilton Garden Inn Stoke on Trent

Breakfast was just okay, and not worth the extra £13. I went down at about 9am with no queue, but it was a bit lukewarm. The rooms were modern and clean, though the walls seemed thin enough that I could clearly hear the person next door on their phone. I thought it was good value and well located for work in Stoke. Having to pay another £9 a day for parking was disappointing, especially as there was very little signage explaining it.

Those two Christmas days felt like a proper little break, and made a tough year a bit better. We live locally, but staying here over Christmas honestly made us feel like we were abroad. Check-in was easy once we’d paid, and everyone was welcoming. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Joe, I believe that was the young man’s name, was fantastic at breakfast. Thanks to all the staff and cooks who worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Room service was top notch too. I loved the comfortable, beautifully arranged sitting areas. They’re thoughtfully designed, and seem to take introverts into account, which was a big plus for me and my autistic sister. My one concern is reception cover. I think there should always be two staff members on duty. Most guests are fantastic, but safety and security need to be a priority, especially in Stoke-on-Trent. Thanks, Alison.

The hotel was clean and really enjoyable, with mellow music in the background. I came in after eight months apart to catch up with a few friends, and we sat in the lobby for a couple of drinks. Joe, the man behind the bar, was cheerful and easy to talk to. Very polite and professional. The night staff were brilliant too. Highly recommended, even if you’re just stopping in to reunite.

Roberto was such a pleasure to deal with and really helpful. The room was spacious and very clean, and the food was delicious. Excellent customer service, I’ll definitely be back.
