I stay in around 70 to 80 hotels a year for business, and this Holiday Inn Express is the best one I’ve experienced. The whole team deserves credit for the care they put into the place. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Stoke-on-Trent. The staff are attentive and thoughtful, whether it’s helping with toiletries, refilling a water bottle, or sorting out a room issue quickly. They’re professional and warm, and clearly want guests to be comfortable. The hotel is spotless and welcoming, with effort going into keeping it that way around the clock. Breakfast is complimentary, and the most impressive I’ve had at any hotel in North America or Europe. The quality, choice and presentation are far beyond what I’d expect from this brand category. The whole stay sets a high bar for its category and is well worth experiencing.

We found Holiday Inn the best fit for a weekend visit to Stoke-on-Trent as a family of four. It was quiet and good value. The room was really clean and had everything we needed, though it felt a bit small with the sofa opened up. The staff were friendly and easy to approach, and gave us all the information we needed. The QR code in the room was handy and saved us time searching through flyers. Breakfast was included, with English breakfast, fruit, pancakes and cereals to choose from.

The staff made a huge difference to our stay. When our children were hungry in the middle of the night, they couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and we’re very grateful for their genuine care. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice for the family. We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn in Trentham and would happily return.

One thing to watch for: if Stoke City have a home match, lots of fans use the hotel car park, and getting out can take up to an hour if you leave when the match ends. The car park and access are otherwise really good. I booked two rooms overnight in the IHG app, one double and one with two singles, and choosing them was easy. They were also able to give us one room early, which helped since we had to leave quickly for a reception. The room was plain but more than adequate, with plenty of space, a decent sized bathroom and everything we needed. Breakfast had hot food, bakery items, cereal, fruit and hot drinks, enough to get the day started. A good, convenient hotel.

The staff were especially welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was decent for something included in the room rate, and the bar was fine. There are places to work in the restaurant and lounge area. Parking is included, and we had a good dinner at the nearby Harvester, just a very short walk away. The rooms are a little tired, and the heating system is old, though it worked okay. The beds and bedding are good, and overall it’s a pleasant place to stay for a Holiday Inn Express.
