The New Inn Hotel

Both the carvery meals and puddings were delicious, with fresh vegetables, crispy roast potatoes and moist meat. This is a favourite place for our uncle and family. Charlie was thoughtful and kind to my uncle, plating up his meal and bringing it, along with John, back to our table. Those small helpful touches make going out a pleasure. Thank you very much.

The food was nice, and the prices felt neither cheap nor expensive. Service was the problem. We waited over 20 minutes for drinks and 40 minutes before being called up for the carvery. You can only go up once, and the plates are smaller than most people would consider a normal dinner plate. Our waitress seemed completely uninterested and like she didn't want to be there. Some staff were nice, but some shouldn't be working there.

We came for lunch while visiting my daughter, but wouldn't recommend the place or return. It was completely empty when we arrived at 12.30, and we stood around for several minutes before anyone came to say whether it was open. A middle-aged bald man eventually appeared and had no customer service at all. We felt unwelcome, and the atmosphere was horrid. The man and the other staff need to learn how to be polite and welcoming.

The room was comfortable and very clean, and everyone on staff was welcoming and accommodating. My son and I stayed on the night of 15th November, and ate at the restaurant first. The garlic and cheese ciabatta was great, though it needed more garlic. We followed it with the chicken balti and Cajun chicken burger, both excellent, then sticky toffee pudding that was out of this world. I’d happily book again next time we’re in the area. Thank you, Charles and all the staff. Outstanding! Mike & Dan
