Days Inn Michaelwood M5

Karen at reception turned a bad week into a great one. If I could give her 10 stars for service, I would. Every Days inn needs a Michaelwood's Karen, and I'll definitely stay again when I'm in the area. The room was the usual great value, clean and comfortable, with the basic necessities and plenty of space. There's lots of parking on site, and the location is good for getting onto the motorway.

I slept well, which is the main thing. The room was large, the bed comfortable, and the price very good. It had basic amenities, including a small TV, but there were facilities for making drinks. The location's convenient, with snacks and drinks for sale and a large Welcome Break motorway service station right next door.

At least the bed was clean and fairly comfortable. The room itself was shabby, with a rusty bath someone had tried to cover with silicone, and threadbare, patched carpet. We had a ground floor room and were woken in the night by a heavy-footed guest moving around. We could hear them all night. If you stay here, make sure you get a first floor room. The receptionist who greeted us looked like he'd rather be somewhere else.

The staff were very helpful, and the spotless room felt thoughtfully laid out. It was a pleasant stay and good value for money. Parking right outside was a nice extra. The only snag was that the internet was a little tricky to connect to.
