Mayfield Apartments

Lots to do nearby, parking was easy, and it was warm and clean. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff were so good we can’t speak highly enough of them. They let our dogs stay too, which was awesome. The beds were super comfy, though the pillows felt a bit hard to me. That’s just preference, and we’d definitely go again.

There are miles of coastline right nearby, and it’s easy to get around: bus stops close by take you to the city centre or along the coast, and the metro up the road goes to Newcastle. We also found some really nice real ale bars and restaurants. Harbour View is worth a visit on Thursday night for live music, and the owner or his wife, being locals, can point you in the right direction. I rang directly because none of the online sites showed a double available, and the owner was very helpful. He gave me a lovely, very clean double room with a wonderful view of the sea and sunrise. Room 5 had one of the most comfortable beds I’ve found in a hotel or B&B. The staff were relaxed and accommodating, which made the stay perfect. I’ll definitely use it again.

Matt was brilliant. I called about a hairdryer and much-needed fan, and he brought them within half an hour. The location is great, just set back from the seafront. The place was spotlessly clean, with lovely bed linen. Taylor's teabags and Borders biscuits were a much appreciated touch.

The shower room was a bit small, but these things happen. Matt and his partner were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, with fantastic customer service. They even went out to buy me an iron and ironing board. I’d definitely go back.
