The Vacationers

The bed was comfy and the host was friendly. There was a kettle in the room, with a limited amount of tea and biscuits, but the quilt was really thin. My front room had a broken door lock and the TV had been pinched. There was a wall bracket and a TV remote. The listing gives the impression you’re booking the whole house, but it’s basically a guest house with a shared kitchen and bathroom. It says you’ll get an email with the door code 24 hours before booking, but you won’t, just turn up and ring the bell. It says there’s parking, but it’s street parking and you need a permit during some hours. To add insult, I originally booked three nights, stayed two, and didn’t get a refund for the last night.

The house smelled strongly of animal excrement, and it felt filthy and unsafe. Outside, people were shouting, cars were racing, and there was fighting in the street. The bed was dreadful and almost at floor level, the TV didn't work, and there was a chip left on the floor by the previous guest. The drawers were so dirty and full of fluff that I had to wash all my clothes. I called the manager, who was asleep in Canada, and woke him up. He couldn't have cared less and offered no help. There was no sense of security if a problem came up. Avoid.

We had a lovely stay and would come back. The area felt nice and safe, and the shared kitchen and bathroom were clean. We were in upstairs rooms 1 and 2; both had new carpets and really comfortable beds. I don't know why there are so many one and two star reviews. Thanks!

The host was really welcoming, and the place was quiet and clean.
