Riverside Bar and Restaurant

A lovely pub to stay at, with excellent meals. Thanks to the cook for a delicious dinner.

I was working nearby and wish I'd found this place before the Travelodge where I stayed the previous week. The price is very reasonable, and WiFi is free. My work has run over, so I'll be back in the area and will stay here again. Alice and Noel are wonderful hosts. Nothing seems too much trouble. My room was spotless, cleaned every day, and had fresh towels. It was spacious, with a little kitchenette and dining area, plus a practical shower room with a generous walk-in shower. The bed was comfortable, and I slept really well every night. Noel cooked excellent food each evening. The portions were generous, and everything was nicely presented and delicious.

There isn't a restaurant, as this is a pub offering rooms only, but they do that brilliantly. The room was well equipped, with tea and coffee readily available. The women I've met behind the bar have been friendly and fun, giving the place a relaxed, homely feel. I gave service a 4 despite all that. If you're getting takeaway, they'll lend you plates and cutlery so you can keep watching the football and such. I'd stay again if I'm in the area. Give them a visit.

I've only been a couple of times, but I love this place and will definitely go more often. The staff and regulars are very friendly, and they made me feel at home. There's something on each week, like karaoke, a BBQ or quiz night. It's a proper local English pub, with homemade food from a talented chef, lovely meals, very good prices and generous portions.
