Swanage Bay

I stopped in to have a look, then spotted a lobster being prepared and decided to take one home. It needed no garnish at all, the quality was fantastic. Well worth a visit.

We called in an order from Kimmeridge, where we were staying, and picked it up a couple of hours later, all filleted and ready. The Lemon Sole and scallops were wonderful. The fish is top quality and local, and the customer service was fantastic. It’s the best fish shop, or fishmonger, we’ve had the pleasure of visiting on the south coast. My only complaint is that we don’t live nearby and have to wait until next year’s visit to come back. Thank you.

I enjoy writing reviews and hope they help. I don’t often give five stars, but this shop is a treasure. While the big supermarkets dominate these days, here’s a local place that really knows its stuff. If you want locally caught fish in Swanage, come here. I’ve had locally caught fish here that I’ve never seen in restaurants nearby, and they’ll give you cooking advice. This is how the high street used to be, and how it should be!

Tucked away in a quiet part of Swanage, this is one of the best independent fishmongers around. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, led by one of the first three women in the country to become an advanced master fishmonger. They sell excellent local fish that’s fresh and in season. Definitely worth a visit.
