The local ale was well kept. But the bar had a strange feel to it. The staff and manager, apart from one girl who served me, seemed drunk, swore and muttered under their breath, and slammed things around. Even the girl who served me didn't seem happy to be working there. The clientele all seemed completely wasted too. It reminded me of the programme 'Britains toughest pubs'. The whole place felt like it might kick off at any moment. Also, for a cider festival, most of the cider was sugar syrup from "Lilley's cider". Yeah, okay.

Both nights had live music, which made our weekend in Swanage a memorable mini break. The pub had a great atmosphere, and the food was fantastic. The staff were the best, professional, polite and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you, I'd highly recommend it.

Zoe and the crew made it such a fun night. We had country and western music with someone calling the line dances, danced ourselves silly, and ate great food. They're planning more nights, so we'll definitely come again.

We went in after seeing the cider festival sign. The place was quiet, except for the landlady shouting and swearing at the barman while he was taking a break she said he wasn't entitled to. We tried a couple of the strong ciders, which were very good, and took them out to the garden to drink. We came back the next day, and it was a little quieter.

I was in swanage on a Sunday and fancied a roast for a change. I'd heard good things about their Sunday roasts, and they lived up to the hype. I had chicken and beef, both nicely cooked and tender, with plenty of gravy.
