We were put in the “loft suite,” where most of the ceilings were barely five feet high. It felt like Willy Wonka had booked a seaside break for his Oompa Loompas. The three skylights let the sun blaze straight in, and the room got as hot as a Brazilian rainforest. By the end of the weekend, the grapes and tomatoes would’ve been ripe. There was a microwave, crockery and cutlery, but no fridge, presumably melted by the oven-like heat. The iron was beside an invisible ironing board. The TV came with a remote that seemed to do its own thing, so you could prop the set against a chair if you wanted to watch it. Pictures were supplied but not hung. The tired, patchy walls had nails and screws sticking out, ready for use at no extra charge. The bathroom shower was handy, though cramped. I found the best way to wash was to slide into the bath like a seal reaching for a trout, then sit down and finish up there. We were delighted to see white chocolate wafers on each bed, until we realised they were the pillows. Folded several times, they did make good earplugs for outside noise. If you want a South Wales holiday that also punishes your family for some wrongdoing, this place fits the bill. The heat above has a Guantanamo feel, while the whole setup will confuse and treat them at once. Enjoy!

We booked two nights through Expedia for the August Bank Holiday, travelling all the way from OX16. The place wasn’t open. There was just a card saying it wasn’t a B&B or AirBnb and telling us to contact the booking agency. We’re still waiting for our refund. DO NOT BOOK!

DO NOT BOOK, THIS IS A SCAM. It’s someone’s home, not a serviced apartment or B & B. The people who listed it apparently don’t own the property or have any rights to it, and they’ve apparently left the country. The phone number and email provided don’t work for contacting them. It’s listed on lots of booking sites, and the actual owner is trying to get the listings removed.

The loft suite was okay, though we kept bumping our heads on the ceiling and the bathroom was cramped. The neighbourhood was quiet, apart from a neighbour testing his motorbike noisily at night.
