The Coast House

Andrew and Lindsay were welcoming and knew the area well, and breakfast was fresh with plenty to choose from. Our room 5 was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a lovely bathroom and an amazing view. There’s a bus stop right outside for Swansea. Parking is plentiful, though some spaces are free and the car park directly opposite is paid. A real gem, highly recommended.

We spent two days in room 2, where the bay view and the little table with two chairs by the window made it nice to sit and watch things go by. The room had a big comfortable bed, wardrobe, large radiator and sink. The clean shower and toilet were on the landing next to the neighbouring room. Since the building is unmanned, the owners sent access details by email and text, which made getting in easy. Andrew cooked breakfast both mornings and was very friendly. There was a full English as well as other choices, with juice, tea or coffee and toast. We ate twice at the George pub next door, which has a Caribbean themed menu among its other options. For parking, outside the pub worked best. There’s lots to explore nearby, from Mumbles town and its shops to Bracelet Bay, the nature reserve and walks around Mumbles headland. Oystermouth castle was closed when we visited, though you could still walk around the outside. The seafront was being updated in February 2025, so there was a building site outside. It didn’t bother us, and we couldn’t hear the work from our room.

We had a lovely two-night visit. The coastal walk, shops, pubs and seafront are all close by, and Andrew and Lindsay made us feel very welcome. We really appreciated that.

Room 5 had a slight sea view, a very comfortable bed and an immaculate bathroom. The whole stay at Coast House was superb, and Andrew made a brilliant breakfast each morning. We chose from a simple menu the night before, having salmon on an English muffin one day and a full English the next. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in the Mumbles. Highly recommend!
