The rooms were finished to a really high standard, and breakfast had loads of choice. Gaye greeted us with homemade cakes and tea or coffee, then made sure we had everything we needed throughout the stay. I’d happily recommend staying here if you get the chance.

The big lounge and complimentary pool table gave us plenty of room to relax, and the rooms were spacious too. There was no safe for valuables, but otherwise they had everything we needed. Breakfast was fantastic, and the friendly owner made the place feel like a lovely family home. We’d love to return.

Everything was spotless, from the entrance to the rooms. The staff member was so kind and willing to help with anything, and breakfast had more than I could think of. The rooms were amazing, and the price felt well worth it. If I’m in the area again, I’ll definitely come back. Better than any other hotel around, 10/10.

We booked four rooms, and they were all stunning. The enormous living area had three huge sofas, a dining table and a pool table, plus a private entrance and outdoor seating. There’s a log burner inside and another outside. The breakfast was described as continental, so we expected something small, but it was huge, with fruit, pastries, cereal, porridge, pancakes, sausage and eggs. Gaye, the owner, was incredibly hospitable and started feeding us as soon as we arrived. The haulage business next door didn’t affect our stay, despite what the Google Maps photo might suggest. Cook and Barker pub is just under a mile away, and Alnwick Castle, the coast and other castles are nearby. A hidden gem, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

The house feels welcoming and homely while still being spacious, and the rooms are spectacular. The owner was the sweetest and the breakfast was delicious. It’s a short drive to Alnwick Castle and gardens, Bamburgh castle, Seahouses and cruises to the Farne Islands, among plenty of other places. This was my favourite spot in England. I’ll definitely be back.
