I’ve had Christmas lunch here twice, and neither meal was good. The turkey was processed, just one small slice, and when I raised the portion size, the server said it wasn’t his responsibility. I like my vegetables al dente, but the roast potatoes were hard to cut and undercooked in the middle, while the sprouts were practically raw. The dessert was nice, at least.

The Sunday roast was lovely, with generous portions of fresh meat and veg. Good value, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

Went back recently and the food was excellent again, plentiful, hot and tasty. Still an easy five stars. This is a great dog-friendly place. I phoned to book and got good service, then a friendly welcome when we arrived. It was clean and tidy, and the two waitresses were efficient and worked hard. The food took a little while, but was worth waiting for. There was enough choice for everyone in my group, and the portions were good value. We’ll definitely be back. Our dog had a hard time choosing from the dog menu. 😃

The young waitress told me she’d made the dessert, so five stars to her. I tried the Baileys cheesecake with toffee sauce and crushed nuts even though I didn’t want a big pudding, and it was the best one I’ve had, so creamy and light. The beef and ale pie was cooked to perfection too, a really lovely meal. We’ll definitely eat there again. It’s dog-friendly as well, which is a big plus.

It doesn’t have much kerb appeal, but the staff are lovely, the beer is good and the food is great.
