The White Hart

We only came for dinner, so I can’t say anything about the rooms. We waited nearly an hour for our food, and when it still hadn’t arrived, we left. The waitress blamed us for it never turning up. Such a shame, as the blonde woman who’s worked there for years is lovely and tries so hard, but her amateurish colleagues let her down.

The building is nice and the waitresses were pleasant, but the food wasn’t worth the money. We’d had a bad meal here before, then decided to give it another go for a birthday after quite a while. We ordered two Buddha bowls at £16 each, sharing one and adding a few extras. The bowl with extras was actually smaller, so those didn’t seem worthwhile, and the rice was bland, like unseasoned value rice. Save your money. If you’re staying there, Sainsbury’s down the road has much nicer food for a fraction of the price.

First stay here, and it made a great impression. The rooms are a fair size and I had no issues. Everyone we met, from reception to the bar, was friendly and polite. I had piri peri prawns, then sausage and mash. Both were served hot and tasted good, with no quality problems. I also enjoyed a few drinks at the bar. Thanks to the staff.

We stayed from 08/11/2024 to 09/11/2024 and would definitely come back. The breakfast and evening meals were delicious, with generous portions, and my evening meal was a canun chicken burger. The rooms were spacious, clean and lovely, with large walk-in showers. I even saw the cleaning staff scrubbing the communal walls, something I’ve never seen in a hotel before. There are a lot of staff across the bar, restaurant, kitchen and cleaning teams, and everyone was helpful, polite and friendly. The breakfast was presented really well, though I forgot to take a photo. The one issue is the menu could use more vegetarian dishes. Two people in our group struggled to find something and won’t return.
