The White Hart

I work for a pub company and know what good looks like. This place definitely delivers: lovely rooms, great food and a good choice of beers, including local brews such as Deya. We had a really nice stay, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. They even posted back the eyemask we accidentally left behind. There’s ample parking, and it’s close to major towns.

The roaring fire made the White Hart in Wroughton feel especially cosy for Christmas lunch. Everything was relaxed and festive, and the friendly, attentive staff made the meal effortless. The food was delicious, full of flavour, nicely cooked and served in generous portions. It felt like a real treat, and we’d be very happy to return.

Today’s roast was first class. The pork fell apart, the crackling was crisp, and the roast potatoes were proper ones, not frozen from a packet. There was a great choice of vegetables, all cooked just right. I’ve eaten here a few times now and the food has been wonderful every time. Can’t fault it, easily 10/10, and I’d recommend coming for a meal.

The pub itself is gorgeous, and the staff were lovely and attentive. Still, I have to mention a couple of problems. My rib eye was cooked perfectly, but it had far too much salt and became an unpleasant meal, especially with a clinical condition. Salt should be something customers can add themselves. My partner’s double espresso was disappointingly cold too. I’d recommend the place and hope they take this on board. Please let customers add their own condiments.
