The Tickled Trout Inn Bilton-in-Ainsty

The venue was lovely and the service was great, but the food made this a mixed experience for my 50th birthday. The room we were seated in had beautiful wood panelling and comfortable seats. I ordered the fish fillet with leek and chorizo chowder, expecting soup I like and a sauce with the fish. Instead, it came on something that looked mostly like lentils with samphire, and the flavour was very fishy. I left a lot, which I never do at restaurants. The wood-fired pizza was undercooked, though the fish and chips were amazing and the venison pie was good too. Be aware the new prices are about 20 percent higher than those on the website.

Maggie, Rob, and Lauren made our visit to The Tickled Trout memorable. They were friendly, attentive, and clearly cared about us enjoying our time there. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and they created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The drinks were great and the pub had fantastic energy. We had a brilliant experience and will definitely return. They're a real credit to the pub.

The Ure room was comfortable and had all the amenities, and the food was delightful, especially breakfast. Staff were helpful and attentive whenever we needed them. This inn is tucked away at the end of the road, off the beaten track, but it was a great find. The photos say a thousand words.

I had the nicest risotto I've ever had for my birthday meal, so the food was well worth finding the place. My partner gave the pie a thumbs up, and my son liked his burger, though it wasn't easy to bite into and got a bit messy. The location is nice, with interesting knick-knacks on the walls, and the service was polite and friendly. It's tricky to find, so keep going to the bottom of the road. We'll go again.
