We only stopped in for a drink and to use the toilets, but the place was gleaming and the facilities immaculate. It was lovely sitting outside in the sunshine, and the woman behind the bar was friendly and happy to chat.

The pub was cosy and warm, and the owner made us feel welcome. We came in for a drink and ended up staying for dinner. The food was plentiful and cooked really well.

The room was quiet, so we slept well, and breakfast brought perfect poached eggs. Dinner was a highlight too: generous, piping-hot portions, and some of the best Mac Cheese we’ve had. The other dishes coming out looked just as good. Our room was spacious and spotless, and Mike and Maria gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. We’d happily return and recommend this place to others.

We’d just been walking nearby and took a chance on finding a table. Lucky for us, there was one. The Penang curry and chicken and leek casserole were both fantastic, and we finished with two portions of toffee fudge cheesecake. Everything was hot, fresh and tasty, with generous portions. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and quick. The setting has superb views, and it was warm and comfortable inside.

Supper here during our trip to the seaboard villages was just what I’d hoped for from a Scottish pub: a wonderful meal and lovely hospitality. The vegetarian in our group felt just as welcome as the venison-eater.
