New Gurkha Inn

I went for the food, not to stay. After 30 years cooking Indian and Thai food and trying Indian food on several continents, I wasn’t expecting a small town in the middle of Talgarth to have such an exceptionally good takeaway. The chicken Zalfrezi was hot, my partner had a Korma, and we also got really good onion bhajis. The meat was tender and the depth of flavour exceptional. 10/10.

We’d passed the restaurant plenty of times and kept thinking we should stop. Glad we finally did, and it won’t be our last visit. The meal was thoroughly enjoyable, with excellent food, quick and friendly service, and very reasonable prices.

That lady in the taxi was right when she said “it’s lush!” The food was incredible, from the poppadoms and chutney tray, which were unbelievably fresh, to the starters that completely blew me away. I even had to ask what the potatoes were, because I’ve never tasted potatoes like that. The mains were great too. I should’ve ordered hot instead of medium, but that’s on me, people’s idea of hot can be ridiculous! The food, service and buzzing atmosphere were all incredible. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough. Thanks so much, guys!

On my first visit, I was there just for the food and had a great time. There are decent parking spots outside, and the staff were kind and attentive from the moment I walked in. The Gurkha beer was great, and the food was amazing. Highly recommend for both the meal and the experience.
