The room itself was fine, with the usual tea and coffee, air-con and shower over the bath. The TVs were an inexpensive Chinese brand rather than the Samsung or LG models usually found in Premier Inns, but they worked fine. Someone had fitted modern push-button switches and USB chargers, which felt out of place. The reception also seemed oddly tacked on at the end of a corridor near the vending machines. The staff were lovely and friendly, and none of the problems were their fault. We slept well. We got the meal deal with breakfast, served at the Centurion restaurant next door, a rather strange place that looked like a big Table Table someone had walked away from. Service was painfully slow with only two staff in the whole place. Around 7pm on Saturday there were just eight customers, four of us, and we waited about five minutes at the empty bar to pay before anyone showed up. The menu was very limited compared with the usual meal deal: mainly fish and chips, pizza or burgers, no steaks, and all desserts came with vanilla ice cream, no custard. We all thought finding enough to eat would be hard if staying longer than a weekend. The food itself was nice. At breakfast the next morning, with a full day ahead, we were told there was no hot food because there was no chef, so only continental options were available. Staff apologised and suggested asking reception about a partial refund, but it really wasn’t good enough. One person in our party got porridge, which tasted like it had just been made by adding hot water. We left disappointed. The experience was mediocre and the place felt a bit odd, even allowing for its small number of rooms. We wouldn’t stay again; we’d choose Tamworth Central with the Beefeater next door.

The food was hot and tasty whenever I ate there, and breakfast was spot on all week, though we know it’s chain food. There was just one draught lager, but they had a full range of bottles. My room and bathroom were very clean, and the rooms have been freshened up, which shows. Everyone on staff was welcoming, friendly and professional, and seemed to enjoy working together. I had a very pleasant stay at the Tamworth south. Thanks, everyone, and keep it up.

My wife and I have stayed at this Inn quite a few times over the past two years, but standards have dropped a lot. On our latest visit, the night of 26th December 2025, we were seeing family. The sleeping area was okay, but the bathroom was in very poor shape: barely any toilet paper and only one bath towel, so I had to get more from reception. Nobody offered to refill the dispenser, and I had to figure out how to open it myself. The shower screen, fitted since our previous visit, was dirty, as was the area around the taps. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly for a while. There was no one at reception when we checked out to report it. I took photos and followed the guidance for making a complaint, but got no response even though my WhatsApp message was read. Calling customer service, which seemed to be an overseas call centre, got me nowhere. The person couldn’t seem to understand the complaint, even after I repeated it several times. We definitely won’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend it.

David made check-in easy and relaxed, and I was impressed by how well he had things organised. He was really welcoming and friendly. The room looked good, was clean and in good condition, and the bathroom was great too. I ordered food to take upstairs, and David offered to watch for the delivery and bring it to my room. Amazing guy. The location worked well for my one-night business stay. I had a great time, and the friendly staff made it even better.

I visited on the 19/01/26, and Charlotte really made the experience for me. She was friendly and attentive, and her professionalism and dedication stood out from start to finish. She recommended the beef stack burger, which was delicious and cooked just right. The team should be proud to have her. Highly recommend!
