We had a great welcome as soon as we arrived, and our room had a lovely view. It felt cosy and stylish, and I honestly had what may have been the best hotel sleep I’ve ever had. The room was comfortable and spacious, with plenty of beds for the family. The owner was welcoming and a fantastic cook too. The sausages were delicious. We stayed one night on the way back from the top of Scotland. Honestly, don’t listen to the bad reviews. We had an amazing time.

The B&B is close to an M6 junction, which made it an ideal break on a long drive. It’s not the nearest place to stay for the coast to coast walk, but we were glad we took a chance on it. We had a great host, a large room and a lovely breakfast. The owner’s son drove us back to Orton so we could continue walking to Kirkby Stephen. The village pub, Cross Keys, has great food and beer, so Tebay is worth considering instead of Orton for a stop between Shap and Kirkby.

A beautiful room in a lovely village, with kind hosts and a sumptuous breakfast. Such a delightful B&B.

We’ve been twice now and will definitely return. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. It’s in a brilliant spot, and there’s a great dog friendly local pub for drinks and food.

A really nice place to stay, though perhaps not the newest or most modern. It was very clean, and the hosts were friendly. They picked me up at Orton, and breakfast was nice. The family’s daughter has coeliac disease, so I felt completely safe having a gluten free, dairy free breakfast.
