The staff have given us great customer service every time we've visited, even when it was busy and food took a while. That summer wait was worth it, and on our latest visit food arrived within 20 minutes. Sunday dinner was lovely and good value too. We love coming here and have stayed several times over the past year. There is loud music late on weekends, so this PUB venue may not suit you if that's not your thing. It doesn't change how good the service is. If you'd rather avoid the late music, their sister pub the Swan is a minute down the road. Ignore the bad reviews, we think this place is amazing.

We booked a bottomless brunch for eight in early December and the service was awful. We complained several times during the evening, but nothing improved. The only waiter serving the whole restaurant was a young man who was very rude and made us feel like a burden whenever we had to go to the bar to order another drink. His tone stopped us in our tracks more than once. We got just four drinks across the two hours because they were so understaffed for a pre-booked event. Our first drink came 30 minutes in, and an hour into the evening we were served three small boards of food, nowhere near enough for eight people. The new cocktail menu is diabolical too. Instead of individual cocktails, they serve shared pitchers that are watered down and taste like glorified lemonade. It took 25 minutes to get the most senior staff member on duty. They knocked £6 off our £45 per person bill and said they'd follow up by email with further consideration. I've emailed them since, but they've ignored it, despite promising to make more effort to put things right. After paying £45 each, we still had to go elsewhere for food and drinks. We've been going to the Malthouse for bottomless brunch for years, but they've lost some very loyal customers. If you enjoy poor service, terrible cocktails and empty promises, go to the Malthouse for bottomless brunch.

We had a brilliant bottomless brunch, with lovely food including steak and plenty of cocktails. The service was great, the atmosphere was amazing, and it was such good value. Can't wait to come back in a few weeks! 👌 ❤️

The brunette staff member was rude and sarcastic, and spoke to us with no respect. There was no apology or explanation, just attitude. We waited 15 minutes at the bar before anyone acknowledged us. When we asked if we could order food, we were told “she’s busy” in a tone that made us feel like an inconvenience. The way we were treated was disgusting, with terrible service and no professionalism. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Oliver looked after us really well, friendly and attentive. The roast dinner was lovely, and I'd definitely recommend it :D
