Hadley Park House Hotel

The staff were quick and on the ball. When the bride asked for a group photo, they happily opened a window to help us get it, and I'm grateful they took the time. It's a beautiful place in a fantastic location; even travelling down from Lancashire was easy. There are lots of photo spots, all close together, which was especially useful because the groom was on crutches and couldn't walk far. The venue and gardens are nearby, and there aren't any steps, so it could work well for people with mobility issues. The bright ceremony room looked lovely in sun or rain, and the gardens were great for group and couple photos. A fantastic wedding venue all round.

I've been coming to the Christmas work party for the last three years, but this time, on 13 December, was disappointing. The pate was runny and the toast with it was rock hard, though the main course was okay. They took away the cheese and biscuits while we were on the dance floor. It was over £50 per person this year, so I'll definitely book somewhere else next year. The DJ also didn't get the different parties interacting. I've worked in catering for over 20 years, and this one was memorable for the wrong reasons.

The food at dinner and breakfast was plentiful, excellent quality and very good value. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast for both nights, and are looking forward to coming back. From our phone reservation through to departure, everything was excellent. This family-run hotel is conveniently placed for the major highways, with attractive gardens, enough free parking, and a nice mix of period charm and modern decor. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Downstairs, guests can relax with a drink and a chat in the bar or one of several cosy rooms. There are several function rooms, including a magnificent conservatory. There was a wedding on our first night and a 90th birthday on the second. We met the birthday girl and some guests, who were having a wonderful time, so it clearly works well for celebrations.

We had a great time at the Christmas party and stayed in room 18, which was fab. The bed was comfy, the TV was great, and the bathroom was huge. Breakfast room service arrived bang on time and was delicious. I also loved the proper-sized mug in the room for a cup of tea, rather than the silly little ones you often get. Most of all, Rhian (I'm sure that's her name) at reception was lovely, friendly and accommodating on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. She was helpful, approachable and kind, and deserves plenty of recognition as a great representative of the hotel. A couple of things could be improved: there could be more space at the tables during the meal, as it felt a bit cramped, and a Christmas tree or another festive photo spot inside near the bar would have been nice. There may have been one elsewhere, but I didn't notice it. My partner and I are planning to visit again soon. Thanks for a great time!
