We paid £145 a night for a suite, discounted from the £200 shown on the website, but were still disappointed. The listing promised a view, and there wasn’t one. Breakfast wasn’t included, and there’s no parking, so parking costs another £9 per 24 hours. The room felt very dated. Paint was chipped and marked throughout, there was bird poo on the windows, the furniture was scuffed, and grout was missing from the floor tiles. The sitting area was poor, with old, low-quality furniture. The headboard was marked, though the bed itself was comfortable and the bedding clean. The carpet was dirty and there was a black hair on the shower head. Very poor, even at the discounted price.

We paid £60 per room each night for two nights. Breakfast cost extra, but we loved the menu, where you can order as much or as little as you like, at reasonable prices. Tim, the owner, has refurbished the premises, and the fine dining restaurant is due to open next year. The bed was so clean and comfortable. We couldn’t fault the stay and will definitely come again.

The location was excellent, about as good as it gets, and there was free coffee at reception. Still, I wouldn’t stay again, and it didn’t feel like good value. There was a lot of promise, but the room was tired, with damp showing in several spots on the ceiling. The furniture was worn but usable. The bedside lamp didn’t work. After a few tries to find a replacement bulb, we gave up because they couldn’t locate the right size or fitting. Breakfast was advertised as available, but when we asked, we were simply told it wasn’t being served. Why leave the signs in the rooms?

The manager was helpful whenever we needed anything, and we could leave our luggage there after checkout. The property was clean and quiet, and the location was really good. I’d stay again, though I thought it was expensive for such basic, no-frills accommodation.

We’d booked a double room in July for the September Iron man event. After driving four hours, we arrived to find the building closed and deserted. The rooms had been cancelled two weeks earlier, but the hotel hadn’t told the third-party booking site we used. If they take bookings through a third party, they should tell them when they cancel, so customers don’t travel all that way and end up with nowhere to stay. When I called, the manager said, "I don't know what you want me to do, we canceled your room". There was absolutely no care or empathy, even though it was entirely his fault and it was 4pm on one of Tenbys busiest weekends.
