Elms Farm BB

After our walk on the Cotswold Way, this was a lovely place to stay. The location is hard to beat, and Rose was very accommodating with our pickup from Winchcombe. She also made a reservation for us at the local, which we enjoyed. The rooms were perfect, all with ensuite bathrooms, and breakfast was fresh, from the eggs and sausage to the fruit and yogurt. Willow and Skye, the dogs, are delightful.

The Freight Wagon is a brilliant little place with everything you need. It’s very peaceful, and there’s a 20 minute walk through the fields to the local pub. Highly recommend it.

Breakfast set us up for the day: fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and juices, then a hot choice from the usual eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, beans and fried bread, plus tea or coffee and toast. Rose gave us a very warm welcome, and our room looked out over fields with sheep and baby lambs. We were hoping to look around the farm, but it started raining. Maybe next time.

Having the lounge to ourselves was much appreciated, especially with its wood burning fire and comfy sofas. We had a very comfortable night, and Rose and Martyn were excellent hosts. The farmhouse felt warm and welcoming on a damp, overcast day, and the dinner recommendation was excellent too. Breakfast was excellent as well. We stayed during peak lambing season, which made the visit extra special.
