The Tudor House Hotel, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

The high street setting is lovely, though the bar and lounge were almost empty and the crowd seemed older. Service was friendly. I had the Cumberland sausage with bubble and squeak and chunky chips. It was all pretty bland, just okay, though the chips may have been the best bit. Lunch and a pint came to £24. See picture provided.

After visiting Tudor house regularly for over five years, we stopped in again just before 2:30pm on a Saturday, hoping to get sandwiches. I was the only person at the bar, but the barmaid ignored me at first. When she eventually responded, she said she'd ask the chef, then came back to say he had a big table and wasn't serving more food. I was speechless. That experience has put us off coming back any time soon.

We had a lovely stay, and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. The food was good too. This is a beautiful old hotel with history everywhere you look, including walls that don't seem to run straight.

The room could have used a small fridge, and parking in the car park is limited. Still, overnight parking on the road makes that manageable. It's a very comfortable historic hotel, with lots of thoughtful little touches that make the stay nicer.
