The views were beautiful throughout the day, and it was a lovely stay with my fiancée and dog. The owner was welcoming and accommodating, and there’s a nice shop and cafe. It’s also handy for local activities by car, and the campsite toilets and showers were quite nice. The owners’ three small dogs were free to roam around, including on the campsite. They were rather reactive, and their barking when they came over to my dog caused some issues. There was also dog poo left unpicked. I think their dogs have plenty of space without needing to roam through the campsite field.

We spent two nights camping on Snowdrop pitch and just wow. The pitches are perfectly placed and wonderfully quiet, with wild camping and eco facilities. The outdoor shower was great, and there’s a nice park bench and fire pit. The shop is lovely too, with a freezer where you can help yourself to breakfast packs and ready meals made on the farm, paid for with an honesty box. Nothing was too much trouble. We’ll definitely return.

A real unexpected find on the Cleveland Way. We were welcomed into a beautiful courtyard and found charming, dog-friendly accommodation, plus the best cream tea. Such a unique experience, and I highly recommend it.

Found this site on the vanstops app. The location is hard to fault, with truly breathtaking views, and the honesty shop is a lovely plus. The welcome at check-in was adequate and the lady was friendly, though she seemed rushed and impersonal when she offered us a site map. There’s space for six campervans, but the road is single lane and won’t accommodate larger vehicles. Campers have a separate grassy field, booked through a third party at £30 per night. We didn’t think that was good value: there’s no EHU, the facilities aren’t adequate, and the shower block has two compost toilets and an electric shower that needs attention. There’s no hot water for washing up, and campervans don’t get Wi-Fi because the signal doesn’t reach their plot. The fresh drinking water tap is on the side of the toilet, which seemed like a poor choice for hygiene. With all six pitches full, space is limited. I wouldn’t feel there was enough room for children to play safely, so perhaps three pitches would leave more space between them. Recycling is encouraged, which I support, but the bins are away from the campervan area and make it cumbersome. They also run a working farm, have a B&B and host events, but we didn’t use those so can’t review them. I believe there’s an on-site cafe as well, but we didn’t try it. Compared with other sites we’ve found through vanstops, this was 2/5. The location can’t be faulted, but the facilities need a real upgrade and maintenance to keep to a good standard.

We were told rudely that we couldn’t sit outside with our own food, even though we’d spent £30 on drinks and planned to buy cake after lunch. We had only brought one sandwich, and were sitting on picnic benches outside the entrance, which we thought were off the cafe property. When we tried to explain that we’d bought drinks and intended to get cake, we were called unreasonable. The owner was aggressive and rude, and the cafe is part of the Cleveland Way, where walkers pass through all the time. Thoroughly unpleasant. Avoid!
