The welcome here was excellent, and during my week-long stay I felt more like I belonged than like I was just a customer. The food was delicious. I tried every breakfast they offered, and when I mentioned I had been baking bread and had tried linseed and oat bread, there was a fresh loaf on the table the next morning. The rooms are comfortable and feel like home. I've wanted to return, but they're often booked up. Hope you get a chance to stay, it's a place to remember.

Breakfast was a real highlight. Sue and Simon will make what you want, with cooked breakfast, eggs from their free-roaming hens, and optional salmon. They also serve homemade bread, far better than the usual shop-bought sandwich bread, plus fruit salad and yoghurt if you like. A small fridge in the breakfast room is handy for guests. I stayed for eight nights in October 2013 and loved it. Meadowcroft B&B was clean, warm, bright and well maintained, and I couldn't find a fault. The furniture was new and comfortable. The house smelled nice, parking was plentiful beside it, and every room had digital TV, a DAB radio and free WiFi, though the broadband wasn't very fast. There were separate emergency lights in each room in case of a power cut, and I was glad to see modern single-faucet sinks instead of the old separate hot and cold taps, which I hate. Sue and Simon take pride in making people feel welcome and comfortable while keeping a discreet presence, even though it's their home and we're the guests. I highly recommend staying here.
