The Regal Hotel

My parents have stayed here several times, but this last visit was like a prison sentence. They were left confined to their room because there was nothing open downstairs, no bar and no staff around. The food options were very limited, just ham salad or a meat pie. They’re nearly 80 and my dad has restricted mobility. He wanted a beer in the evening, but the bar was shut and there was nobody at reception or anywhere else in the hotel. I went to the shop for beers and walked to the venue. After several calls with no answer, I had to message the karaoke lady on Facebook Messenger and ask her to pass on my details so I could get inside. I eventually got in and reached their room, but they were very unhappy. The new owner came to speak with me. I found him ignorant and full of attitude, with no respect for older customers who’d been coming for years. He seemed more offended that I’d called his business partner, his wife, than interested in hearing the complaints. I gave him a chance to address some of the problems, but once he had my parents’ money, he showed no interest in keeping them as customers. I could go on, but I might hit the text limit 🤣 It’s turning into a seedy venue that people around here don’t want. The previous owners were far better than the person running it now.
