The indoor pool was a real treat, and having it all to ourselves felt unusually generous for a self-catering place. Even through persistent rain at the bleakest time of year, the cozy cottage gave us a comfortable place to unwind, with plenty to do for different hobbies and interests. There are some excellent places to eat nearby. We did have a small problem finding it when we were nearly at the door; little arrow signs on the existing house signs would help. Ray and Julie were accommodating and available for questions, while leaving us to enjoy our break. It was a tonic for the mind and soul. Thank you.

A really peaceful, private spot for a few days away with my wife and kids. The cottage had homely touches that made it feel cozy, and the indoor pool was a lovely surprise alongside those great views. There’s plenty to enjoy in this park if you like nature and countryside walks.

The private pool and jacuzzi were fantastic, and just what we wanted for a much-needed break. The cottage was spotless, cozy and private, with everything we needed, including a lovely wood-burning stove. Outside, there are breathtaking views and excellent walks right nearby. The hosts were friendly and made us feel at home. Can't wait to return.

We’ve stayed for three nights in August 2022 and came back for another three nights in August 2024. Ray and Julie are very friendly and accommodating, and there’s plenty of private parking right beside the cottage. My wife and son aren’t hikers, but they love the indoor pool and jacuzzi, and spend lots of time there. I can head out walking straight from the door, with lovely routes to Dovedale, Milldale, Ilam and Wetton. Thorpe Cloud is visible from the patio and only a few minutes away on foot, so you can wait until the crowds leave for a quiet sunset view. If we’re not relaxing by the log burner or taking in the scenery outside, there’s always another walk to try. It’s a well-equipped cottage that feels special, and we’ll definitely return.
